This exhibition is informed by literature-based research on the impacts of trauma and injury on neurobiology and cross-system homeostasis as well as the use of sensory perception in body-oriented therapies. In this exploration I used the lens of my personal experience to better understand how injuries impact child athletes, taking into account the unique results of trauma on the developing brain and body. In my emerging creative arts practice body paint is used to translate a person's pain into a visual language as well as provide new sensory stimuli to inform body awareness and encourage empathy.
