The exhibition consists of a multimedia dance piece that follows a young athlete's struggle with chronic pain, disability, and body concept. The end of the dance piece directs the audience into an interdisciplinary visual and tangible art gallery representing the realities of life with chronic pain and disability as well as the solace of community and the natural world. The exhibition is concluded with an artist talk back with the audience to discuss the research behind the work and provide insight on our personal connection to it as disabled artists.
Through the use of technology and different artistic modalities Casey Hall-Landers and Elicia Neo aim to create a language for their pain that can be accessed and understood through a variety of sensory avenues.
This virtual art gallery includes picture and visual descriptions of artwork displayed as a part of the State of Being Gallery, part II of the Pain/Relief exhibition.
